Stevia rebaudiana cultivated in non-native tropical conditions tends to flower early, halting vegetative growth, resulting lower biomass and yields of its valued steviol glycoside metabolites. While indoor cultivation allows manipulation artificial lighting mimic optimal conditions, it introduces an additional energy cost.
